History
Orpehus was raised reluctantly as a Monk at a young age. During his early years he worshipped Balthazar more and this brought out his aggresive side. He spent most of his early monk life concentrating on learning the art of Smiting.
As the years passed he calmed down and his knowledge and expertise of healing and protection techniques blossomed. He became something of a child prodigy. However his meeting with a young Griphyne Of Nor proved to be his undoing as he slowly became influenced by his new friend. Together they would come up with mischievous plans to bunk off their studies at Serenity Temple. Griphyne was slightly older and had more knowledge and due to this Orpheus looked up to him as a role model. This brief moment of new found freedom and rebellion only lasted a few months...
Seeing their son's lack of progress, Orpheus' parents sent him away to Kryta to be study in Lion's Arch. Even without his partner in crime, Orpheus had trouble concentrating. Needless to say Orpheus was kicked out of his studies for an incident involving a frog, a mushroom and the daughter of a wealthy local merchant. His family had always looked down on him since that period of his life and it was his Sister, Katalina Soulhelm who became the pride and joy of the family from that point on.
Many years later Orpheus Soulhelm met a fully fledged Griphyne of Nor in Droknars Forge. Nothing had changed since their early days at the temple... they were still as clueless as ever. Orpheus joined Griphyne in the guild, the Defenders of the Blackblade and together they fail to keep their parties alive to this day.

There have been numerous sightings of him using a War Hammer, it is not known whether this is down to him being dumb or stupid. He spends a lot time with Griphyne Of Nor trying out silly and often insane ideas in order to get rich quick (this has resulted in failure everytime). Orpheus will quite often let the other monk do all of the work prefering to use the time to relax instead (a special trait he learnt off of Griphyne). Orpheus started out life as a farming character but has since enjoyed the luxury of doing nothing very important. Has been known to be spiteful and not heal someone if they're annoying him or have said "I don't need your healing" (see Zeyal Melso).
DotB Takeover
On April the 1st 2007, Orpheus Soulhelm took over the Defenders of the Blackblade by stealing Calliara's Blackblade and holding it to ransom of 1337 ectos. His first action as Guild Leader was to change the existing cape to a garish affair which can only be described as five year old's drawing. Name Origin
Orpheus was picked out of a random name generator many years ago for a character that had been created for a small game project. Once some research had been done on the name it was found to have come from Greek Mythology. The pronounciation of Orpheus Soulhelm's name is spoken in English as ['ɔ(ɹ).fi.əs] (ohr'-fee-uhs).
